Japanese taupe quilt - the big picture

Ok, no more teasing. Here's the entire quilt.

More notes on where I got patterns, how I did construction...coming soon.

My mom says she still loves the quilt and looks at it every day. How sweet!

Neat I like the mix of pieced blocks and applique, but I really like the frames around the appliques.

I think you've accomplished one of your goals - to make a quilt Yoko Saito would like! The quilt is exquisite, from the design to the fabrics to the hand applique and quilting. Congratulations to you and your sister, and what a lucky mom!

Very special... I really appreciate how you can make such beautiful use of a subtle palette... I find it so soothing and elegant, and I think it takes a confident sense of perspective to do it *right.* I also admire your patience and the attention you pay to detail... the quality just shines through. What an inspiration!

This is just so beautiful. What a gift! I too love Japanese fabrics. I have been collecting (hoarding) vintage kimono to use for various projects mostly still unknown to me...

Absolutely stunning! I came across your blog while looking for resources that are dedicated around Japanese crafts, and specifically quilting. And there you are!

BTW, have you come across any forums that are dedicated to Japanese crafting? I'm hungry to find one community that is focused on Japanese fabric, quilting, and crafting.

Keep up the great work!
