When I was a kid, it was all about Star Wars.
I'm a product of the 70's what can I say...a funky little era, a fashion-questionable era, an era in which Star Wars was born.
Because my dad signed us up to be members of the Star Wars fan club, we ended up getting this record (yes record, not CD) called Christmas in the Stars.
On there is a track called "What can you get a Wookiee for Christmas (when he already owns a comb?)". I think it may be my all time favorite Christmas song.
There is another track on there for you trivia lovers called "R2D2 we wish you a Merry Christmas" which just so happens to be the first ever musical recording of John Bon Jovi. You've come a long way, baby.
I know you have some cool holiday tunes that are your old stand by's so...educate me! What's on your short list? Christmas Don't Be Late by the Chipmonks perhaps? (embarassingly also in my top 10 list)

Oh my goodness, I think I remember that album, my brother used to listen to it constantly! Don't remember some of those songs, but remember the title song. Scary!
ReplyDeleteI think my husband would die for that record. My childhood favorite is Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, but adulthood has led me to Elton John's Step into Christmas. Though there is nothing cuter than your own kid singing a Christmas song, and then it doesn't matter what it is.

ReplyDeletethat song is saving me on my commute to work this holiday season. it helps that 3 Boston radio stations are playing solid Christmas music, so it's usually on atleast once per ride.
other favorites are the Bing Crosby type, and anything choral (I sang in Jr. High and High school, so I've got a soft spot for those because I still know the words..)
My favorite carol to sing with the family is Angels we have heard on high.

How about "A Charlie Brown Christmas"? It's sweet and quiet and always seemed like "grown-up" music when I was a kid.
