Glow in the dark thread
Keeping you waiting all weekend to find out about my new cool find at the quilt shop is a bit mean I know...sorry!
Truth is, I had to be awake enough to photograph it for you at night!
This thread glows in the dark and is called Nite Lite ExtraGlow by Superior Threads.
They claim it glows up to 6 hours. Seriously, that has a lot of cool potential. Dryer safe, Iron safe, it sounds pretty awesome. I haven't used it on anything yet, but gee where to start?
Anything that a little 2 yr old boy would like to go to bed with (blankie? plushie? PJ's?...) I'm thinking the possibilities are endless.
What would you used this cool thread for? Cough up some creative ideas my brainiac friends!
I like to make pillowcases with the names stitched on the hem.
ReplyDeleteI bought some at the NQA show in Columbus this year and I think I'll be using it on a quilt top for my 5-year-old son...so far I haven't tried free motion machine quilting so I'm a little nervous about it!
ReplyDeletegreat thread to protect a child from the monsters :-)
ReplyDeleteOKay that is just trippy!
ReplyDeleteMy friend wanted to use something like that to quilt some cats... can you imagine their eyes looking at you in the dark?
ReplyDeleteI don't have any specific ideas, but I have been told, that to get "the" effect, you need to use a lot, not just top stitching or single line quilting...
ReplyDeleteI have some glow in the dark fabric... :o)
What about a mobile made of stars and planets which could hang 'and orbit in space' when the lights go out - if you outlined the shapes with a lot of glowy thread, it might work. What a great find!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! That thread is just too cool:) Can't wait to see what you use it on.
ReplyDeletek and it rocks! I embroidered with some DMC embroidery threads too and it is really neat! It glows for a long time and just one thread really glows well -try it! you'll have fun!
