I love my little Japanese quilting blog....however I occasionally wander off topic just a touch.
Japanese style quilting does make me tick, don't get me wrong, but tonight I took my first ever knit lesson.
It was so much fun! I actually learned to knit, and purl, as well as how to cast on properly. All these mysteries solved in just one little hour! My instructor is named Ivy, and she has the patience of a saint luckily.
I am really wanting to make a sweater someday, but I also think it will take me a good while to graduate to that level especially since I have 10 billion quilt projects that are still on the front burner.
In other news, if you don't have a TV, now might be a good time to buy one. I actually don't watch any TV (outside of movies) except for 1 show.
This beloved show is Project Runway!
Tomorrow night on Bravo, at 10pm, season 4 starts up. I have been so looking forward to this!! The folks on this show are masters at sewing garments and make some of the most beautiful things. If you don't watch this...please consider!!!

I enjoy knitting but I consider myself a beginner. Awhile back my mom gave me the book "The Yarn Girls guide to simple knits" which has a variety of patterns in it, including quite a few sweater choices. I made a sweater from it and didn't cry once! I'd recommend it if you want to try a sweater.
ReplyDeleteYou are tempting me to give knitting another try, but I don't think my family could bear it if I added one more project... lol.
ReplyDeleteMy television is tuning in to Martha Stewart tomorrow... I want to cheer on Anna Maria Horner, when she makes an apppearance on a live show. She's a quilter-designer-blogger mom, with great humor and grace. Isn't it wonderful that there are programs promoting creativity, skills and talent?
You've taken a great photo of that yarn -- very very tempting :-)
ReplyDeleteFor practice knitting I often pick up some cotton and simply knit squares, about 10 inch, and use them as dish clothes -- if there's an error, no one will care, and it gets me a chance to try various patterns and needle sizes etc.
Man, blogger really hates me. This is my second attempt and commenting, but I still love the yarn, and I still think you should show all the knitting and yarn you do and buy.
ReplyDeleteI missed project runway this week, but i'll catch up this weekend!
My blog use to be about only knitting, but since I learned to sew this year, I do talk about my sewing projects. I can't wait to see your knitting projects.
