A few questions, a bit of panic, and some holes of considerable size

Dear friends that knit,

Note that perhaps I've been knitting a bit too much lately (especially since I'm so bad at it!), so take this with a grain of salt -

Do you knit when you're with your 2 year old son and he's looking for his dinner?

Do you knit when you're mostly in the dark sitting in the passenger seat waiting 45 min in a line of cars trying to view holiday lights?

Do you knit when you're talking on the phone with your girlfriends about heated topics?

Do you knit when you're watching foreign films with subtitles?

Perhaps all of the above are bad ideas, but I have scientific proof - at least in my case - that these activities lead to 1 unsightly thing:

HOLES

Yes, I'm talking holes in this hat that you could run your index finger through! Holes that will show up when you put said hat on your head!

I think the topic for my knit lesson next week will be "how to pick up dropped stitches".

Or perhaps "don't panic, buy a crochet hook."

In any case....to those of you who knit, and you know who you are...my hat is off to you and the beautiful work you do.

In truth I don't really need to take my hat off after all, it already has plenty of holes!!

hehehe...holes are annoying, but don't panick. You are right, they can be fixed with a crochet hook, but if it's too far down, I would just rip out the knitting.

I love the green varigated yarn in the photo.

I can't knit without looking and I in awe of people who can. I did crochet (Ripple Blanket) while watching Pans Labyrinth, but I had to keep stopping because I didn't trust myself.

Thank you for the lovely compliment. I still feel like a newbie when it comes to certain techniques, but I am patient and can teach myself by reading through my knitting books or looking it up online.

Ha! Ha! Ha!

When you are sewing with your taupes & there is a front & a back that could be considered a front (know what I mean?) how do you decide which front to use? Can you use both in the same block or is that an error?

Marisa, you really made me smile.
If you enjoy all that you have described, you simply must do it even more often, that's all these holes are telling you :)
By the way, I cannot actually knit.

Just for making me smile yesterday I have tagged you in my seven. Check out my blog if you would like to participate!

The knitting looks great! Knitting can be very addicting. You really must check out The Knitters Studio in Menlo Park when you get down this direction - www.theknittersstudio.com And not to enable your addiction or anything, but you can buy lighted needles so that you can knit at the movies, in a dark car, in bed in the middle of the night, etc. :-)
